I'm neglecting my art history seminar lecture because I can't focus. This thing has taken up all my attention.
S. O. P. A. - Stop Online Piracy Act.
Piracy is definitely a huge concern, most definitely. And I can empathize with the idea that jobs are in trouble because of the amount of tax money gone to the internet. I can understand downloading music being a huge issue, yes; that's why I buy all albums to support the artists.
But what the government's trying to pass isn't the way to do it. I don't believe it to be so. I've read through some articles and I'm not content with what they're trying to do. Companies like Google, Facebook, and Yahoo will be crippled, and sites with intellectual info will be targeted. DeviantArt could be targeted for fanart, fanfiction.net for... well, fanfiction... To me, it's a violation of the freedom of speech. You may say that, since you don't live in the US or Canada, it won't effect you, but the Internet Giants ARE stationed here, so it does in fact effect the entire world wide web.
